Desert Rat Punk Festival

Music, in one genre or another, has always been a huge part of my life.  From all the music that was banned growing up - to my love for playing the flute in high level competitions - to two-stepping with Texas country - to punk rock circle pits and everything in between.

I 🖤 MUSIC.

It calms me, it motivates me, it gives me a community that this super-awkward, pretty rage-ey introvert can feel truly at home in.  My sister and I have always had a solid bond in punk rock and are excited to bring Desert Rat Punk Festival to life in the most appropriate setting - Albuquerque, NM.  The idea of Desert Rat was created on a road trip to visit the parents with too much caffeine and too much road ahead - and everything seemed to fall into place.  Less than two years later, with Calle's 15 years of event production experience,  Amanda's punk band connections, and their mutual love of community, punk music, and just having a f*cking good time with friends - Desert Rat Punk Festival is coming August of 2026.  

The punk rock family is one of our favorite things about this scene and its loud, raucous shows; and as this circle-pit-major-liability-with-a-bad-ankle can attest, I have spent my fair share on the bottom of a pileup covered in sweat, dirt and blood, and not always my own.  Regardless of the air slowly being squeezed out of my lungs, I know that eventually I will be be plucked to my feet and return to the chaos.  The joy of the circle pit is something only those that have experienced it can truly understand, but whether you enjoy running counter-clockwise with elbows flying in your face, or standing in the audience participating in the show in your own way - we can't wait to share in the love of punk rock with you this summer!
